Energy: What Makes Life...Life.

For our reflections on our unit over energy, we were required to think of a real life situation that was related to what we were studying. For my topic, I chose football. Instead of just recollecting what we learned and what we didn't, this required us to critically think about the lesson in real life, not just scenarios made in the class room.

  1. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on practical usage of our knowledge of energy equations, but I didn't see an energy equation comparing initial energy to final energy. I also liked the pictures you chose to illustrate your glog.

  2. I like your idea of using football as an example of application of the concepts. Your diagrams are also cool!
Your explanations however need to be revised.
You include the arm in the system but you do not indicate that the arm applies a force through a distance. Instead you claim KE! Then for the ball you use PE but it was in the hand of the thrower then PE = 0 doesn't it? Finally you say that the ball speeds up so why doesn't it have KE?
Please decide what your system is going to be. Go back to the guidelines and add what is needed (read Abigail's comment).
Looking forward to reading your final posting.

  3. Sorry for forgetting to comment! I read and changed all that was necessary but was in such a rush I completely forgot to respond! But regardless, thank you for your input. I added everything that you said, and Mrs. Gende, I realized after I read that comment my mistakes. I guess I wasn't paying attention and was thinking even right after the ball left the hand, instead of just when it was being thrown. Thank you both.
